My Austin XL is doing something similar. It's close to 3 months old, and worked fine until recently. The display is blank, when I first turn it on. Shortly after warm-up, it will start showing up, but is rather dim. Call Pit Boss and they will send you a new controller. Sounds like the one you have is bad. Hey I can actually help here. What you need to do is loosen the screws that are on top of the auger motor. They tightened them too much, so much so that the shaft binds up.
